21st Century Horse Stall Cleaning Solutions

Welcome to the Stall Shi*fter Forum. The purpose of this forum is for discussion of modern horse stall cleaning solutions.  We welcome your questions and comments. We will attempt to respond to all questions and will post your constructive and respectful comments.

In this forum we would like to hold an informative dialogue about products used in horse stalls to keep them healthy and safe. There are new bedding solutions and new tool offerings both manual and automatic of varying quality in construction and pricing coming onto the market frequently.

You are invited to post comments and ask questions about the Brockwood Stall Shi*fter and other automatic stall cleaning machines that have come on the market since the original Stall Shi*fter in 1997. We understand that there is no unanimous agreement of different methods of cleaning stalls and that the Brockwood Stall Shi*fter is not the ultimate solution to all horse stall cleaning environments. This is why we offer a 15 day free trial of a new Brockwood Stall Shi*fter.

Wondering if the shavings I use would work in this? They seem to be quite a bit coarser…it is product that is ground up. there are pieces of wood in there that are 3/4″ long and maybe an 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide, what do you think?

Thank you for your question. I call those wood chips and they should work fine. The screen they must pass through is a diamond grid offlattened expanded metal. The grid holes measure 7/8″ x 1/2 inch. It sounds like you are using wood chips from a rough cut log mill.
